Welcome

One of the oldest hiking clubs in Kerry

Laune MC was set up in 1966 and is based in the Laune Valley and Killorglin area. As well as climbing the Kerry mountains, we spend a weekend or two away each year on mountains in other parts of Ireland, and we finish the year with a Christmas party.

Over 18s are welcome to try two hikes before joining. Email the club secretary at launemc@gmail.com to come along.

Our history

Enjoying the mountain air since 1966

The club was founded the same year as Kerry Mountain Rescue, and for 25 years the two were almost one and the same. Members helped build the country's first purpose-built rescue station in Killorglin and put up the deposit for the land Cappanalea Outdoor Education Centre stands on.
